San Leandro, CA – Skate Industry News: The Olympic Skateboarding Team Is Here!

Together with Toyota and sponsors Nike SB, Tech Deck, Jessup Griptape, and ProTec Helmets, USA Skateboarding—the U.S. governing body for skateboarding—announced the 22 members of the 2021 USA Skateboarding National Team. Skateboarders had the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics based on their three best results in World Skate sanctioned events during the 2019 qualifying season combined with their six best results during the 2020 qualifying season (September 16, 2019 – May 31, 2020).  The results Are in!

The U.S. men’s street team includes Nyjah Huston of Davis, CA, Dashawn Jordan of Chandler, Arizona; Jake Ilardi of Osprey, Florida; Jamie Foy of Deerfield Beach, Florida; Louie Lopez of Hawthorne, California and Maurio McCoy of Reading, Pennsylvania. The men’s park team includes Alex Sorgente of Lake Worth, Florida; Cory Juneau of San Diego, California; Heimana Reynolds of Honolulu; Jagger Eaton of Mesa, Arizona; Tom Schaar of Malibu, California and Tristan Rennie of Rialto, California.

“I don’t know if any of us imagined we would ever be up here getting ready to skate in the Olympics,” said Nyjah Huston, the five-time world champion and California native recognized as the highest-paid skater in the sport’s history. “But we’ve all been working for this from a young age, even before it was possible.

Brighton Zeuner, 16, of Encinitas, California, is considered a medal favorite in women’s park. The rest of the U.S. team in that discipline are Arianna Carmona of Buena Park, California; Bryce Wettstein of Encinitas, California; Jordan Santana of Houston; Jordyn Barratt of Haleiwa, Hawaii and Minna Stess of Petaluma, California. The women’s street team includes Alana Smith of Mesa, Arizona; Alexis Sablone of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; Mariah Duran of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Samarria Brevard of Riverside, California. -states Espn
