San Leandro, CA – Skate Industry News: Thrasher Rough Cuts Are Cutting The B.S.

Posted in: Videos

In a world of Instagram models, photo shoots with rented luxury cars, and pro’s that look like perfectly sculpted style robots, it’s nice to see someone actually work for a trick… instead of seeing someone roll out of bed and into a custom fitted Nike outfit and sending it down a 25 rail first try…

Thrasher Rough Cuts. A rare look into the real work it takes to get those few seconds of digital glory. The Rough Cuts are extend versions of recent video parts that show all the trys, the bails, the outfits changes and the randomness of street missions.

As a long time skate filmer, I know the in’s and out’s of filming a full length street part, but the average skater may not realize the work it takes to pull off a legendary part. Lots of hours scouting spots and planning missions just to get the boot within the first few minutes. Lots of bails and unexpected board breaks, as well as cold feet and “I’m just not feeling it” days.

The edits are raw and give a look into each trick and how hard the journey was. Some tricks are shown only once and others show multiple bails, run ups, encounters with pedestrians, security and even vehicles. Multiple missions and hard earned tricks are apparent with outfit and lighting changes. It’s always a pleasure to know that a skater worked hard to achieve a stunning ender for a collating video part, but it’s even better to witness a portion of the journey.

Go check out the full Rough Cuts playlist on the Thrasher Youtube page and enjoy the journey!
