Fuzhou is a cultural gem, hidden in the country in the eastern Jiangxi province of China. With camphor trees, as well as historical villages, this place has a historical significance, which has only recently has started being shared with the rest of the world. The story begins 700 kilometers from Shanghai in rural Fuzhou. The fate of these remains  of old Chinese buildings seemed to be sealed when plans for a required dam had been accepted and expected to be carried out in 2002. The anonymous philanthropist of Fuzhou took action, in order to prevent the destruction of these significant chinese buildings, and to ensure that they would be preserved in the beautiful image that they were imagined in. He proposed an audacious plan to move 50 Ming and Qing dynasty villas to Shanghai and, eventually, 10,000 of the native, beautiful trees. The plan was bold, and had never been attempted before.

However, though hard work and perseverance, they succeeded in moving the villas and all the trees. The trees began to thrive in their new home, and hundreds of years old villas were given new life, as they had been reassembled carefully, brick-by-brick with the original, old bricks. A decade later, Amayangyun opened its doors for the first time. Ancient and modern nature and human life coexist in perfect harmony with ethereal camphor forests and introspection. For generations to come, a significant piece of China’s history has been preserved–and Amanyangyun is a living part of that history.

Amanyangyun’s Suites combine spacious living spaces with quiet courtyards with a light-filled and welcoming forest view and create an enticing retreat throughout the year. The 24 contemporary courtyard suites in Ming are built to complete the quiet woodland that complements the village concept. With the villas being renovated, the experience that is created is simply unique. The balance between old culture and new, fresh style is blended together perfectly. The designs of each villa are slightly different, but all are breathtaking.

Each villa has five bedrooms, indoor and outdoor eating spaces, and a personal support team. The team includes a personal chef, security team, and a maintenance team. Additionally, there are daily activities, programmes, and discounts included in your stay here. If you are looking for a unique blend of the old and new cultures of China, this location must be on the list, because the experience is simply unparalleled.
