Expert AC Repair & Maintenance Services Available

Your air conditioner’s compressor plays an important role in keeping your home cool. Located in the outdoor condenser unit, the compressor changes refrigerant from a liquid into a gas, which in turn allows for the production of cool air. The compressor is often the source of issues when they arise in AC units, and if you are in need of repair services it’s important to find an experienced, licensed and qualified contractor to help.

If you are in the Sacramento area, including the cities of Lincoln, Citrus Heights and Roseville, we would love to be your go-to team for everything related to heating and cooling. Our team members are experienced in repairing, installing, maintaining and replacing all types of HVAC systems, and we pride ourselves on great home efficiency and customer service.

In the sections to follow, we will be discussing a few common issues which can arise in AC compressors. We hope this allows for better understanding of these parts and provides some insight as to why we’re the ideal partner when you have an issue.

Dirty Coils

Your AC’s compressor is located in the condenser unit and surrounded by other inner workings of the system which all work together to cool your home. The production of cool air is obviously an important component of your system, but AC systems also work to remove heat. Air must pass through the condenser and evaporator coils to leave the system, and if these components are dirty then excess heat can build up inside the unit. This can cause the compressor to overheat and eventually fail. Luckily, coils and other components can be cleaned during regular maintenance when performed by an expert.

Blocked Air Flow

Obstructing the area around the unit itself can lead to the same issues mentioned above. We understand AC units can be unsightly, but trying to put shrubbery, fencing or other items around them must be done with care. If the unit doesn’t have enough space to take in and let out warm air, overheating can occur as well.

Refrigerant Lines and Levels

Refrigerant is a chemical which is used in AC systems to produce cold air. Also known as Freon, refrigerant moves throughout the system and changes form from a liquid to a gas, which creates cool air. The lines which hold refrigerant can experience wear and tear just like any other component, and when they crack or begin to leak, issues can arise. If there isn’t enough refrigerant, the system can work overtime to create cool and eventually ice can begin to form on the unit. Eventually, the system won’t be able to create cool air at all, and ice will prevent it from functioning correctly. When this happens, we can find the source of the leak, repair it, and refill the system with the appropriate amount of Freon to get it running correctly again.
