Custom Outdoor Signs

Hey everybody Tony from Baltimore signs and graphics.  Today we are focusing on outdoor custom signage.  There are many materials and substrates to use and in this case we are using aluminum composite both in 3mm and 6mm thicknesses.  We are going take a look at Jason our production manager working on our latest project for Anchorage Marina in Baltimore MD.  Anchorage Marina has decided to do a complete rebranding and have chosen Baltimore Signs and Graphics to perform the work.  After a site survey and a collaborative consultation with the General Manager final decisions were made to upgrade four outdoor signs.  One will be lighted and three will be made from aluminum composite.

Rollover Flexi Lamination

We’ve got Jason in the production room mounting the vinyl to the aluminum composite substrate using the rollover flexi lamination machine to press the digital print to the panel.  To do this he must first mount the vinyl lettering to backing paper then he will create a clean cut hinge which allows the rollover process to be effective.  Jason will rollover the vinyl onto the substrate enabling him to peel the backing paper off of the vinyl and substrate leaving just the vinyl lettering adhered to the aluminum composite thus creating the sign.

Laminates:

What is notable is the use of the ‘matte’ laminate.  This will avoid glare from spot lights and sun when they are shining onto the sign.  The lighted street sign will also utilize the capability of the HP printer and rollover flexi to produce the sign face on acrylic utilizing translucent vinyl and vandal guard laminate to enable easy clean up if harm comes to the sign.  All of our vinyl is printed on the HP 365 Latex printer.  This is the ‘Cadillac’ of printers when it comes to color, performance and eco-friendliness.
