Wheelchair signs like this one, which are often located inside of buildings and used to point people to bathrooms that are wheelchair accessible, must also have braille, as specified in ADA guidelines.   There are specific requirements for wheelchair signs, and any other type of ADA sign for that matter, that must be followed.  For one, the braille must be located below the writing on the ADA sign, like in the picture above.  Also, all lettering and pictograms should contrast with the sign’s background. Either dark lettering on a light background, or light lettering on a dark background, is required in order to create enough contrast to make the sign easy to read.  There are only a few fonts that the Department of Justice allows you to use for wheelchair signs.  Signs with cursive or calligraphy writing are not allowed because they make the sign difficult to read, especially from a distance.
