In this video, I go over a typical session at Freedom Summit Consulting and the process of receiving a business and financial assessment to create a path forward to growth.

This is Keith Atneosen, founder of Freedom Summit Consulting. Freedom Summit Consulting can engage with you in a process that really starts in a very limited scope –  where, for $500, we get a couple of years of your financial statements: then using your industry code that’s on your tax return, we can do a comparison of where you stand versus your industry. 

This will give us a real key indicator to see – on just a very surface level – how are you doing in terms of revenue per employee or profit per employee? How is your gross margin? And a number of other financial categories that will give you a good sense of just where you stand versus your industry. That costs $500, we’ll spend 60 minutes unpacking it, and get a sense of where you stand and probably some good next steps that you could take to improve the value of your business.

The next step, if that’s helpful, would be to move on to a financial exit readiness assessment. What we’re looking at there is basically this: what you got and what do you need? What do you got involves having a reasonable idea of what your business is worth if you were to bring it to market, and also involves understanding what do you need on the personal side, so that we see where those balance out.

In a lot of cases, the amount of value in the business is less than what you actually needed or expected and so that moves into then the third step which is value building: where we identify gaps in your business versus what it could be and how can we increase the business value over time?

Finally, some clients will find that they actually have an abundance of resources and they stewarded substantially more than they needed. So that opens up the opportunity for us to talk about generosity and the philanthropic opportunities that can come along in this type of work. Especially if we can get this type of planning done before a sale of a business, there could be substantially more money that’s going to the causes that you care most about.
