Portland, Oregon Wedding Photographer. Indian ranch wedding, California – Travel

Posted in: Client Examples,Industry News

As a wedding photographer I get to travel to a lot of places. Portland, Oregon is my home base, but I always love photographing new landscapes in new destinations. For Shelly and Brian’s multicultural wedding I left the pacific northwest and I got to visit the small town of Paicines, California. I think this town is mostly land and ranches! Haha! It was very beautiful and very hot, and quite an adventure for the start of my season last year. This was the first Indian wedding I’ve had the pleasure of photographing and it was a really awesome experience.

There are definitely some Indian wedding traditions that I think should be a part of every wedding! I think one of the coolest parts of the day was when the groom rode a horse down the road on the way to the ceremony. He was surrounded by his family and friends, and music. Everyone danced and sauntered down the road. It was joyful and exciting and the perfect anticipation leading up to the ceremony!

For every wedding that I shoot I like to scout out the scene to get ideas for where to take the portraits. A lot goes into this, including weather and time of day. For these events my assistant and I were staying on the property, so we had plenty of time to check out the landscape. I was delighted that the sun set over these beautiful purple hills and this low hanging tree with wild grass below it. It was the perfect location for our sunset photos. Brian and Shelly definitely helped me make magic with their willingness to go wherever I asked them to. We had a lot of fun roaming around the venue.

This was a four day event, which was a first for me. We photographed a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony +reception and then a closing party as well. What a wedding marathon! Haha! It’s awesome that Shelly and Brian got to spend so much time with their wonderful community. It was super hard to pick and choose which photos to share with you because I liked so many of them! If you want to see more, definitely check out the link below which will take you to the original post on my website. I have shared additional details and vendor information on that post as well. I hope you enjoy!
