Lafayette & Pleasant Hill, CA – Computer Service | “Not Enough Memory Error” and Windows 8.1 Issue

Here are two examples of some computer problems that we have encountered in the last few months at our computer service shop at Cantrell’s Computer Sales & Service:

Our first example is our customer named Dave from Lafayette, California who came in recently because his HP Desktop computer was very slow. He also had an error message at startup that said, “NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO RUN THIS PROGRAM…” Our computer diagnostics showed that he actually had two problems: a failing hard drive and he was infected with malware. The solution to these particular problems were to replace the bad hard drive and remove the virus. We were able to save all his settings, customization, and data because we were able to remove the malware “in-place” without having to wipe the drive and reload the data.

Our 2^nd example is from our customer Victoria who lives in Pleasant Hill, CA and has a Samsung Chronus. Apparently the Windows 8.1 update caused her product not to boot. We have seen a few issues caused by the Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 update. In this case, our only successful course of action was to reload the operating system using the recovery CD.
