Our case study is about our customer named Jannine from Pleasant Hill, California who asked us to solve some computer and network problems at her home. The work order stated that her family was having trouble syncing the new computer and old computer. Also, the printer will print but will not scan.
When we arrived, we found she had a Dell desktop and Custom Build computer at her house. The older Dell was running Vista. On the Dell, there are two user accounts; one for kids and one for the parents. On either account, they are unable to print to their networked printer. They would also like to be able to access their account folders from their new custom built Windows 7 computer. Jannine wanted us look at why their kids Minecraft game wasn’t working properly with some mod software.
The solution to the printer problems was ultimately to uninstall the printer software and drivers on Dell and Custom Built computers, and reinstall all appropriate software and drivers for the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. We confirmed our solution by testing scanner and printer on both systems: good. Our technician also changed the sharing configurations on both machines, accessed files from either user
The solution to the Mindcraft game problem: Our computer technician found that the Minecraft game they had wasn’t an official installation. We fixed the issue and tested with mods: good to go and the customer was very satisfied with the results.
