Back in November 2011, the FBI arrested a number of cyber criminals who were engaged in a massive deceptive scheme to infect unsuspecting users and redirect their Internet searches to alternative, malicious, websites. These cyber criminals operated under the company name “Rove Digital”, and distributed DNS changing viruses, variously known as TDSS, Alureon, TidServ and TDL4 viruses. These viruses pointed victims to malicious DNS servers in Estonia, New York, and Chicago that, in turn, would alter user searches to websites promoting fake and malicious products. Before they were arrested, hundreds of thousands of computers were infected world wide.
There is a simple and safe way to check your PC or Mac computer to determine whether you are infected with the DNSChanger malware. Go to: http://www.dns-ok.us/. This site will immediately tell you whether you are safe. NO software is download or personal information is required to use this free service. The time is now to check whether you are infected with this virus because after July 9, infected users won’t be able to connect to the Internet.
