Oakland, CA | Piedmont; The Key to Managing Cash Flow for Single Retired Clients

BY: ALISON VAN DYKE, FIRST AND MAIN FINANCIAL

Hi, I’m Erik Wolfers, I’m the founder and managing member of First & Main Financial. We’ve been helping clients with personal financial solutions and support since 2001. Today, I want to talk a little bit about retired clients, specifically—single retired clients.

As mentioned in previous videos, we operate as fiduciaries—and not just at the written standard of being a fiduciary, but to the most extreme standard of absolutely taking care of our clients; not just mechanically, but in understanding who they are as individuals and their tendencies with respect to spending or being concerned with running out of money.

Often times when people are single and in retirement, it’s nice for them to have a financial partner who is looking out for their best interest; not only with respect to investing their money, but making sure that cash makes it to them so that they can live a good retirement—live the retirement that they want, but also not worry about running out of money or worry that they’re spending too much in the short-term.

Some of our clients feel guilty or concerned if they have extra expenses, or if they want to spend more money. We know each of our clients at the level where, if there’s a concern about cash or need for more cash, we know what’s going on with them right away. We can have a conversation immediately and help them feel more comfortable with their situation and how much they’re spending—whether taking cash out now matters, the tax implications, and from where the best places are to withdraw cash.

For whatever reason, this is a big part of our practice and a growing part of our practice. We do pride ourselves on taking really good care of all our clients, but of course paying special attention to our single retired clients—because they are in different circumstances than many people and in a different stage of their life, with different concerns.

We are taking on new clients all the time and we absolutely love helping people who are in retirement age have the retirement that they want and feel comfortable about spending their money and enjoying their life.

If you are looking for some financial guidance; whether for a one time financial plan or continuing advice on your investments, we invite you to meet with a First & Main Financial planner for a free consultation. We would be more than happy to sit down with you, assess your situation and review our services to help navigate your financial future.
