Surprise, AZ – Reviewing the Glock 45ACP GEN3 Pistol | Gun / Shooting Range News

Posted in: Industry News

The Glock 45ACP Gen 3 pistol is becoming more popular on the firearm market. One of the main reasons this seems to be is because of the great grip it has for larger hands. The finger grooves plus the bigger frame can make it difficult for smaller hands to have a good grip, but perfect for those who struggle with the smaller guns. So, let’s get into a full review.

Advantages of the Glock Gen3 .45ACP

There are so many advantages that come with this pistol. The first is obviously the larger frame and grip. This includes finger grooves to help with stability while shooting.

Additionally, there are very few malfunctions or jams when putting this gun through its rounds. Even when intentionally using bad shooting form or trying to get the gun to break, it maintains its rigor.

Other advantages for the Glock Gen3 45ACP includes the trigger coming in at the advertised 5.5 pounds with a lot of stack. They have a good amount of squish near the break and work fine during fast firing. The recoil is also something to gush about on this pistol. Even though it is a light weight pistol, the recoil impulse is fairly mild and easy to control, especially given the large hands it caters to.

The last main advantage of this firearm is the magazine. The magazine is easy to load, fire, and eject, even when under pressure or stress. It feeds a wide variety of ammunition brands, types, and weights, and never fails to seat or drop.

Disadvantages of the Glock Gen3 .45ACP

Unfortunately for every advantage in the Glock Gen3 .45ACP, there is a disadvantage to count as well. With the great grip for large hands, this gun can be difficult to hold and stabilize creating a lack of confidence in the shooter. The odd grip for smaller hands can also lead to less accuracy, especially during fast fire.

Another disadvantage is the mediocre accuracy reported when firing this pistol. Given the lightweight front end, and slightly difficult trigger pull, keeping the gun stable and stopped between shots during fast fire is tough. It leads to less accurate groupings on the range and needs some getting used to for the handler. The same goes for the slide lock/release. Many shooters tend to miss this a lot because of its difficult usage even when in a calm environment.

It’s also important to clean this gun regularly. There is a good amount of space between the slide and the frame, which is fine for function, but is an optimal spot for dirt, snow, and mud to wedge itself into the recoil spring and action.

Replace the Sights

Replacing the sights for personal pistol use is not a new concept in the industry, but it is highly recommended that you do so for the Glock Gen3 .45ACP. The sights that come with this pistol are plastic making them highly susceptible to marring and deformation in the field. They are also relatively small and only work best in bright light, so low-light or no-light situations will be hard.
