Kansas City, MO – Custom Sign Refurbishment for KC Kitchen & Pizzeria

Recently we were contacted by KC Kitchen & Pizzeria, they had recently moved into a building with existing signage. They wanted us to work within a budget to create new sign faces that fit into the custom abstract shapes that existed on two sides of their building.

The left picture is the side of the building and the right is the front. Both Cabinets were the same dimensions. You can see the 2 faces on either side have a rectangle then cut in to a curved bottom and top. This was the most challenging aspect to match when making the new sign faces. If the white stroke would have been a slightly different curve than the metal frame, then it would have been extremely obvious.

Kansas City Kitchen & Pizzeria are a family business opening up out of the 4,000 sq foot building that used to be 39^th Street Diner. They offer a great food selection specializing in pizza, but also offering burgers, sandwiches, pastas, and appetizers. For their sign, we started by measuring the dimensions of all the sign faces and calculating the curves for the top and bottom of the side shapes. Then we placed their designs into the shapes which fit intuitively. All the black is matte black vinyl that will shut any light out from passing through, while the white is bare acrylic and the yellow is a translucent vinyl insuring only the parts we want to glow at night, will. Each Sign went up in 7 pieces. We used a towable lift to install from above the awning.

This refurbished sign saved them thousands of dollars because they didn’t have to create a whole new cabinet, just new faces. The current cabinet’s large size, combined with its high contrast matte black to gloss white with yellow accents, and unique shapes are sure to catch eyes from a distance.
