What Scuba Diving Repair Services does The Pool Doctor Offer?

Posted in: Industry News

Wondering what Scuba Diving repair services does The Pool Doctor offer?  Probably didn’t know a pool service company could do underwater repair, but we can!  We have three licensed scuba divers on staff, and our services include:

  • Replacing outdated and illegal main drain covers.  At the end of 2008 the Federal government passed the Virginia Graeme Baker 1404 Law mandating acceptable main drain covers for the bottom of all public swimming pools and spas and skimmer equalizer covers as well.  Since then, The Pool Doctor has installed hundreds of these all over the Bay Area to make sure everyone’s in compliance.  Even though presently the law does not extend to residential properties, many of our homeowner clients have hired us to safety proof their pools, since one of the leading causes of drowning deaths in the U.S. is an improper drain cover.
  • Underwater lights can normally be changed or repaired by lying on the deck and reaching into the pool so the housing can be floated to the top of the water and the repair made.  However, in some pools, this technique is not possible if the light is too far down the wall or on the bottom of the wall or on the floor.  In that case, it would be much more economical to hire a scuba diving repair service to replace or repair the light(s) than draining and refilling the pool, which wastes precious resources and time.
  • Small cracks in the pool surface or staining can be cosmetically repaired underwater utilizing our scuba diving repair services.  While these are temporary fixes at best, if you are not in a position to spend thousands of dollars on resurfacing your pool, but wish to spruce it up a bit, this can be a great option.

The Pool Doctor’s scuba diving repair services are generally $350 an hour plus materials.  If you have any questions about these services, please feel free to call us at 510-223-7537.
