Oakland, CA – Daylight Savings Time – 3 Things to Check | Pool Services News

Posted in: Special Offer

This Saturday evening, October 31 (Happy Halloween) is also Daylight Savings time.  If you are a pool owner, there are three things you should do:

  1. Reset your pool pump filter timers back one hour so they turn on and off at the correct time.  Also, if you have a pool sweep pump, reset that timer as well.
  2. If you haven’t already, now that we are entering the winter months and not swimming as much, you can also reduce your pool filter cycle time according to the size of your pool.  Most pools of average size can get away with only running 4-6 hours a day.  Below that, even in the winter, you risk an accumulation of solids in your water which can lead to bacteria growth, damage to the surface, damage to your equipment and possibly algae when spring begins.
  3. If you have any equipment with batteries (i.e. auto fills or timers), this is a great time of year to change them, along with your smoke detector alarms in your house.

If you do these few items at daylight savings time, you should be in good shape for the winter.

The Pool Doctor can be reached at 510-223-7537.
