Rental Home Owners now affected by the Virginia Graeme Baker Law

Posted in: Industry News

It appears as if rental home owners are now affected by the Virginia Graeme Baker Law (VGB), at least in some counties.

This past week I had a landlord call me and ask if we could come out and replace the main drain cover on the bottom of the pool with a cover that was in compliance with the VGB law.  She said she owned a rental home and the county had come out to do an inspection and would not approve her until this work had been done.

We are in Contra Costa County in California, and this is the first time the Pool Doctor has heard of this ever happening.  The federal law itself states all public swimming pools and spas (see our previous post on this matter http://cityscoop.us/oaklandca-poolservices/2009/04/16/virginia-graeme-baker-vgb-1404-federal-law-public-facilities/ ).  It appears California is extending the law to apply to rental houses as well.

So if this happens to you, call The Pool Doctor.  We can scuba dive your pool and replace the main drain cover(s).  510-223-7537.
