Hypnosis is a very misunderstood process. The truth is, you’re in hypnosis or trance states much of your day. Many people can be in a negative trance state where they’re reliving difficult memories, or catastrophizing about future events. They can also be programmed into fear states through the news, social media, and marketing. In my opinion, one of the biggest offenders of inducing negative trance are the pharmaceutical commercials. They undermine your personal power and plant seeds of doubt, making you feel like a victim to your genetics and other maladies. The science of Epigenetics, and Psychoneuroimmunology (say that 5 times fast) are proving you have tremendous power over your health, even over your genetics. When you learn how to reset stress in your body, you body’s magnificent healing power immediately goes to work to bring your body back to health and vitality. You ARE that powerful!

This is where hypnosis comes in. I explain to my clients that hypnosis is a lot like meditation where we utilize the brain wave states to help reset the brain and body. Remember, a brain wave is an electrical impulse in the brain. As I help the client relax, we begin to slow brain waves down giving them access to more resources. Together, we move from Beta, which is a focused awareness, to Alpha, then to Theta. You actually begin to tap into a highly focused state where the conscious analytical mind gets to take a break, so that the deeper, more intuitive mind can begin to re-image a new state of being. Remember, athletes, artists, high performance entrepreneurs all utilize these brain waves states to accomplish incredible goals, and achieve what many consider super-human feats. You also have this fantastic power within you.

I teach my clients how to recognize when they’ve moved into the Sympathetic NS, and how to take what I call a CPR moment (Compassionate Pause and Refresh) in order to move back into the Parasympathetic NS. They are amazed at how quickly they can shift their state, and begin to feel whole brain synchronization. They report feeling more like themselves than they’ve felt in a long time. They’re calm, focused and content. They make better decisions. They release unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking, and over-eating. They sleep better. This sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?
