Oakland, CA – Planning the Best Social Events During COVID-19 | Catering News

Posted in: Industry News

We get it.  COVID-19 has dramatically affected our lives. Celebrations aren’t the same as they used to be as we are respectful of social distancing. However, having a small group of people to be with is just what we need at these challenging times.  Smiles and laughs with friends and family will go a long way!  We can’t party like we used to, but that doesn’t mean we should stop partying and living our lives to the fullest. Holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, and other milestones in life are times to celebrate!   What better way to honor those things than with the people you cherish most in the world? If you are planning a small gathering of your own, we’ve created a list of some tips to keep in mind as you are preparing for an epic (and safe) party.

Here are 5 Tips to Keep In Mind While Preparing for Your Intimate Shelter-in-Place Party

~Have the Event Outdoors

Proper ventilation is vital!  Having your event outdoors in a secure, semi-isolated place is an excellent way to keep air droplets from staying in one place for too long.

~Order Prepared Meals Instead of Finger Foods/Buffet Style

To limit contact, having prepared packaged catered foods is the way to go.  A great way to do this is by ordering from a catering company that will be able to wrap each guest’s meal individually.   Appetizers, and even desserts, can also be plated in containers for individual service.

~Limit the Number of People at Your Event

For now, it’s best to limit the number of people at your event. The fewer contact guests have with each other, the better.   Invite trusted loved ones, such as close friends and family members.   Those who are in your social bubble are the best choices.  Also, keep in mind the more high-risk people and consider asking them to join your future gatherings when COVID-19 is less of a risk. Also, make sure the guests you are inviting haven’t been out in public settings with many people recently or not wearing a mask properly. If you have any doubts, ask them ahead of time before formally inviting them.

~Prepare the Right Supplies

Since we are amid COVID-19, we recommend you provide additional sanitary supplies for your guests. These supplies may include hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and perhaps even face masks. Wipe down surfaces, especially frequently touched surfaces often. You can also remind your guests to wash their hands after making contact with a frequently touched surface.

~Fix the Seating Layout

Many people may forget this one, but it will help make a small difference in making your event as safe as it can be. Spacing out the seating will remind your guests to maintain a respectable, safe distance from each other. You may consider even lessening the number of seats available to be able to maintain proper distances.   You can also create some fun signs – definitely a “sign” of the times.

Ordering from a trusted catering company is a great way to enjoy your food at your event safely.  We at Aurora Catering have safety guidelines in place for the safe preparation and delivery of foods for your event.
