How do you complete a new reconstruction/renovation? Complete the structural and interior design and finally make sure you have attention grabbing graphics.

In April we had the privilege of working with Mortenson Construction and Populous to put the finishing touches on their newest addition to the Minnesota Twins ballpark. Barrio, a popular Twin Cities Latin restaurant chain requested its concrete support columns be fully decked out with Barrio branding. In collaboration with the construction company and design firm we began researching the best possible solution. We presented our proposal, signed a contract and quickly began production.

We had a short window of time to get everything ready for the Twins’ home opener. The columns were approximately 750 square feet. Which meant we had to order more than 750 square feet of a special material and a special laminate. We wound up ordering 3M LX480 wrap film and a luster lam made especially for it. This material has slide ability, air release, a life expectancy of 11 years, is a Non-PVC vinyl, with a 150% stretch, and is excellent for installation in extreme temps. Which basically means it had the best conform-ability and lifespan, especially for one on concrete in a busy area with exposed elements. Paired with our HP latex printer we not only had the perfect visual solution but the most eco- friendly solution as well.

Given the tight time constraints, a high level of communication between the design firm: Populous, Mortenson and Impression Signs and Graphic’s  was going to be important to insure properly scaled print files with enough wiggle room for our installers to manage through any minor inconsistencies in the columns themselves. Along with creating properly printed graphics our installers had the challenge of working in a half enclosed area in a still active construction site. With cooler temps, rain, wind, and sawdust our installers still managed to flawlessly get everything properly adhered to our targeted bare concrete pillars.

Mortenson contacted us originally to see if we could deliver their project in a short time frame. We had a bit of a crazy time constraintbut we did all we could to make sure we delivered on-time. Mortenson was a joy to work with and we were happy to put them at ease and make the project a success for everyone. We pride ourselves on consistently exceeding our client’s expectations and this project was no different. Where others shy away from complex challenges, we dig right in. Mortenson in addition also let us help provide some new signage for some of Target Field’s suites in conjunction with some reconfiguration they were working on.

We at Impression Signs and Graphics would like to thank Mortenson for trusting us with this project. We are honored to have had the opportunity to again deliver large format print solutions that will be seen far and wide in person, on television and online for years to come.
