Nashville, TN – Are Commercial Vehicle Wraps Really Worth the Cost? You Betcha!

Posted in: Industry News

One of the best ways to get your business noticed is with great graphics on your vehicles.  Studies have shown that a vehicle that’s constantly traveling around town can generate 30,000 to 70,000 visual impressions every day.  That’s in the range of 10 million impressions per year!  Other studies have shown that attractive, eye-catching vehicle graphics have a 97% brand recall rate and 98% positive brand association.  At the end of the day, graphics on your box truck, pickup truck, van, or car are a great way to advertise.

If your business doesn’t have a physical location with a great looking sign to draw customers, it’s even more important – your vehicle is your sign. A storefront should be attractive and represent the brand well; when you don’t have a storefront, your vehicle has to do the job.

But Is a Wrap Worth the Cost?

Sure, a full wrap on a box truck or a van can be a significant investment, with the focus on the word investment.  In fact, over the lifetime of a wrap, it’s one of the lowest cost advertising media available to a business – far lower than television, radio, billboards, and direct mail.  And unlike virtually every other medium, it’s a one-time cost… you don’t pay for each radio spot, monthly rent, periodic mailings, or search engine click.

One of the key factors that makes a vehicle wrap so effective is its speed.  With a great design, your brand impression can be made and your message conveyed in just a few seconds.  And think about what most people do when commercials come on the radio or television… they change the channel.  Direct mail?  Most of it goes in the trash unread, as does email advertising (if it gets through the spam filter).  But once potential customers see your truck on the road, they can’t “unsee” it – the impression has been made.

So What Are My Vehicle Graphic Options?

We understand, you want the most bang for your buck.  The good news is there are great options for every budget:

  • A full wrap, in which all the body panels (and sometimes the non-critical windows) are covered, is without a doubt the most noticeable and the most likely to make a lasting impression.  It gives you an opportunity to incorporate a bold color scheme or an enticing background – it makes your vehicle a mural on wheels.
  • A partial wrap covers some of the body panels, generally on box trucks and vans.  Although it may not have the boldness of a full wrap, it can still make a big impression.
  • Spot graphics (aka, “decals”) are a great way to get your brand noticed, at a much lower cost than a full wrap.  Sure, it’s not as bold – the background is the paint color (usually white on commercial vehicles) – but the right design can still make the brand image and the message pop.
  • For a really tight budget, magnets can do the trick, and they have the added advantage of being portable.  Add a little extra flair with a contour cut around your logo.  (Here’s an added pro tip: make sure a magnet will stick to your panels before you order them, and take them off before going through the car wash!)

At MetroCenter Signworks we’ll be happy to explore the options with you, and find the one that best meets both your marketing needs and your budget constraints.
