Brentwood, Tennessee – Christmas Light Pros on How to Make DIY Wreath

Posted in: Special Offer

So, you’re preparing for the Christmas holiday and its time to start decorating your home. It’s another year and another opportunity to make wonderful crafts for decoration around your house. They are great for conversation, a cheerful presence and creative spirit and cheer. If you want to really get into the spirit of Christmas crafting, then try your hand at making an awesome wreath from left over wrapping paper and cardboard tubes. In a few simple steps, you can make one of these to hang somewhere inside or outside your house, maybe to complement your Christmas lighting installation.

Leftover Wrapping Paper

If you are already a holiday craft maker then you may have already thought of saving your old Christmas wrapping paper to one day make something fun and creative. Now is you chance. If you didn’t save last years, you can still use the leftover stuff that used this year to wrap all of your Christmas gifts. These wrapping paper patterns will not only be festive for your house and its holiday theme, but it will also match and complement the presents under the tree.

Toilet Paper Tubes

Lots of crafts enthusiasts keep these cardboard toilet paper tubes to make various items with, but they will also work well during the holidays to make an awesome wreath. Try to collect as many tubes as you can, around 20 or more would be perfect for a good size wreath to hang up.

Wrapping the Tubes

Cut your wrapping paper in pieces large enough to cover the entire area of the tube seamlessly. You don’t want any of the cardboard part exposed. That would not look very good. It is great if you have two or three different types of wrapping paper patterns to keep your handmade wreath looking festive with diverse patterns. Wrap the paper around the tube fully after smearing glue on either the tube or the wrapping paper piece. Make sure to really get the paper around the tube tightly. Wipe excess glue away with a moist towel.

Making the Wreath

There are probably a couple different ways that you could do this part. You could tie the tubes to a wire or rim of some sort to form the circle of tubes to make the wreath. You could also glue all of these tubes together in the form of a circle, however this will be very flimsy and fragile without some form of support for the structural integrity of the wreath. So it is recommended to affix the tubes to a circular rim, wire, hoop or similar object to form a sturdy wreath support. One great idea for you to try is to form a wire hanger into a circle and keep the hook part the way it is so you have a way to hang the wreath. That goes for the other ways too. Make sure to keep some attachment or formation of a hook so you can hang your wreath on a door, window or mirror.
