LED Christmas Lights. Is the cost worth it Nashville?

No doubt you’ve heard a lot about LED bulbs lately, and you’re probably wondering whether the high price tag is worth it or if it’s just a bunch of hype.   At the Christmas Light Pros of Tennessee, we offer both LED and incandescent options to our customers, and we get a lot of questions about which bulbs are best. Here are some things that you might want to consider when deciding whether or not to use LED this holiday season.

  1. Energy Efficiency: LED bulbs are 80-90% more energy efficient than regular incandescent bulbs. Of course that’s good news for the environment, but it’s also good news for your pocketbook, so your dream lighting display won’t correspond to high energy bills. Of course, LED lights are also generally more expensive, and that will eat away some of the cost savings.
  2. Long Life-span: LED bulbs typically have a lifespan of 60-200 thousand hours, while incandescent bulbs average about 6 thousand. If you plan on purchasing lights and want to keep them to use for many years to come, LED bulbs are a great option. On the other hand, if you may be moving in the next few years or you like the ability to change up your display, LED may not be worth the extra expense.
  3. The LED Look: Clients often ask us whether the LED lights are funny shaped or give off a different type of light than incandescent lights. Unlike the squiggly fluorescent bulbs of the past, there are LED bulbs in all shapes and sizes, many that look just like regular light bulbs. They also come in all different colors and even multiple hues of whites (like soft white, warm white and cool bright white). However, LEDs have the potential to be brighter than incandescent bulbs, which is especially good for trees and rooflines, where you need brighter bulbs to have the same wow effect.

Of course, if you have questions, we would be happy to walk you through which bulbs are right for you during a free consultation.  We proudly serve Nashville and its surrounding area.
