Brentwood, TN Christmas Lighting Trends

Just like indoor home décor, Christmas light trends change from year to year. At the Christmas Light Pros of Tennessee, we check out industry trade shows, holiday décor blogs and of course Pinterest to keep track of what trends are becoming popular in Middle Tennessee and across the country, as well as the latest and greatest in holiday lighting technology. Whether you’re looking for some DIY projects, or you’d like professionals like us to put together a high quality display, here are a few trends that will ensure your home looks its best for the 2014 holiday season.

Lush Greenery:

Last year we saw a marked increase in the popularity of natural (or faux products that are meant to look natural) greenery, such as wreaths and garlands. Lit up wreaths on dormer windows are classic, especially with a big red bow, and a simple, natural evergreen wreath will greet guests with a wonderful smell. Another option that gives provides rustic elegance is a lit up garland framing the front door or the front porch. There are also some beautiful evergreen garlands layered with pinecones and ribbons that hang from porch lights. Add boxwoods or small trees to your outdoor planters with twinkling lights, and you’ll have a gorgeous entry that looks beautiful and festive day and night.

White and Silver:

Requests for colored vs. white lights come and go in cycles, and right now most of our residential customers are wanting white lights that highlight the architectural details of their homes. With materials like mercury glass and vintage silver becoming more and more popular in interior decorating, we’re seeing those trends start to show up in exterior design as well. Try adding silver lanterns lining your front steps or large silver bows on your wreaths instead of the classic red. Soft golds can look beautiful this way as well.

Landscape Lighting:

We’re seeing a lot more requests for lighting that lines entry walkways, the edges of flower beds and driveways. There are also a lot more products on the market these days that make that setup safe and sustainable. Like focusing lights on the architectural details of your home, this type of lighting highlights your home’s beauty and also offers a festive atmosphere. Note that you should really consult a lighting professional before you try this look, especially if you live in a place like Tennessee that has a lot of precipitation.

Of course, every customer is different. If you have kids, you know that they’re more excited about the brightly colored lights and plastic reindeer than simple and elegant lighting schemes, and we can do that too! And if you’re one of our corporate clients, you may be looking to reflect the style of your customers or maybe just make the biggest impact to get your customers’ attention. It’s all about developing a plan that reflects your personal style. Believe it or not, we’re already meeting with clients each week to schedule installations and develop lighting designs for the 2014 holiday season. We would love to help you design a custom installation that will reflect your needs and your personal style. Just give us a call or email to set up an appointment.
