Modesto, CA – Updating Building Sign Face for Saigon One Restaurant

Not far from us is a great Vietnamese restaurant called Saigon One. The manager asked us if we might take a look at his sign and see if we couldn’t replace the face. The weather-beaten look might have been losing him customers.

As you can see from the photo, the building sign looks as good as new now. The company-branded letters look as fresh as the food that’s served. With a UV-resistant overlaminate applied, those letters are going to look bright under the Californian sun for many years to come.

Saigon One is a favorite with the City Signs team. The food is spectacular, with a staggering variety of dishes and native flavors. The folks at Saigon One work real hard and have built themselves an enviable reputation for their food.

We sized the aluminum can at 132 ⅛” by 30 ⅙” and painted it white to match the existing sign. We next routed a ⅛” thick piece of white acrylic to the same size, creating a removable face. This was backed with the letters ‘Vietnamese Fusion’ made from 3M black perforated vinyl. The face was fitted to the can using 1” retainers. The black perforated vinyl letters show up as black during the day, but at night, with white LED light shining behind, look white.

This dual-color look with 3M perforated vinyl looks stunning. The day/ night appearance depends on the colors of the acrylic face, the perforated vinyl, and the LED illumination. Using a red acrylic face backed by white perforated vinyl and illuminated by a red LED will give you red colors at night and white during the day. This kind of dual color lighting can win you customers. If they see you being this innovative with your signage, they’ll believe your dishes will be similarly innovative. Nothing points more new customers in your direction than a well-designed sign.
