Berkeley, CA – Building Sign Installation for Chipotle

A while back we heard from the restaurant chain, Chipotle Mexican Grill. They wanted us to install an illuminated business sign for the front of their new outlet in North Berkeley. There was no need to make the sign, although we would have been more than happy to do so. Chipotle create all their business signs centrally and dispatch them to outlets as and when needed.

You can see from the photo how pleasing to the eye the Chipotle sign looks above the entrance doors. In the evening, the channel letters light up like a beacon, drawing customers inside. We particularly like the chili motif, which informs passersby of the kind of food that’s served.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is a great place to eat when you want something a bit spicy. Their mission statement is, ‘Food with Integrity’, and you will only get food made from natural ingredients. Chipotle specialize in tasty tacos, burritos, and salads.

The Chipotle signs are made from white acrylic, front-lit channel letters mounted on a dark red panel. There is a smaller, separate black panel for the channeled chili motif. As is usually the case, our Chipotle sign needed to be fitted above the front entrance so that it would be visible to passersby. We used a bucket truck to get our installers to a safe working height so that they could align the sign square with the doors. Once fitted, the panels were wired to the restaurant’s power supply. We ensured all exterior penetrations were sealed according to local statutory code.

Chipotle are a large franchise with hundreds of food outlets nationwide. Producing their business signs in one place not only reduces costs but also ensures their brand remains consistent. It’s also far simpler and cheaper for Chipotle to courier their signs to the location and get a local, approved subcontractor to install them.
