Custom Wrap for Shipping Lockers for Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia

Optimum Signs believes that our unique talents should be shared far and wide and when we were contacted to print and install a custom design for Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia, we were excited to help.  Our customer came to us with a design but not much else. That’s another area that we shine!

We started with rough dimensions of the lockers and because the manufacturer is located in France, the process of converting the design took a little bit of time.  Our designers spent the better part of two hours working on the conversion and on the phone with the designers to make sure we understood what we were being asked to wrap.  Once we converted all of the measurements to english standard measurements, we were able to lay out the design.  Our designs were adamant that there are no seams on the face of the lockers.  This took a little bit of time to create an overlap of almost 4″ in each panel that was going to be cut off to make sure that the design lined up. Because the finish of the lockers is a powder coat, we decided to print this on 3M’s IJ35C because of the aggressive adhesive.  Let’s face it, the amount of traffic that this unit will generate also required us to laminate the print.  We definitely want this to look great for years to come.  Now the hard part…the install was in Marietta, Georgia! We went out to a website that has a database of vinyl installers located all over the country and there was one not far from the university. Four Stars also? Perfect. Or maybe not.

We hired a four star company with over 5 years of experience in the business to hang 4 panels and a total of less than 70 square feet. We figured this should take about 3 hours to install, cut and trim.  Our hired installer went out to the site after we air freighted the prints to them and proceeded to struggle with the print so much so that our customer was questioning their abilities. After they spent more than 2 hours onsite trying to get the print to line up, they called and said that the print was wrong and would need to be reprinted. We knew that this wasn’t the case because we staged the vinyl before we shipped it. They also said that they would need two installers and up to 8 hours to install the NEW print. There was no way we were going to let this install go bad.  Our production manager and lead installer decided he was going to get on a plane at 6am in the morning and fly to Atlanta to ensure that this was done correctly.  This made for a very long day for him.  It took him just over 3 hours to install, trim and heat seal the edges.  After we cleaned up, the people from KSU told us that we will be hired to do the other jobs that they have because we care about our work! This is the length that Optimum Signs’ team will go to to ensure that we deliver on our customers job.
