New Custom Printed 40′ x 28′ Drop Curtain for Wisconsin Lutheran College

IMG_5475 When Wisconsin Lutheran College asked us to take a look at a project they had been working on. WLC needed to replace a worn out commencement curtain that they use as a backdrop for their ceremonies. Everything from opening services to commencement exercises are done in front of this curtain in front of the entire school population.  The problem they had was that their partner for the project really had lost the drive to deliver.  That’s when they contacted Optimum Signs. The first question Karen Plauman, Event Coordinator for the college asked was  “can you do a wall banner?” Of course we can.  Imagine our surprise when that banner turned out to be 40′ x 28′!!

We started with the raw dimensions of the curtain. At a hair over 40′ we realized that the curtain would have to be done in three panels.  This would allow for easy handling and work with the maximum width of the dye sublimation equipment.  The next thing we had to determine was they type of fabric.   SoftKnit? Flag? Or maybe a blackout poplin? Given that directly behind the curtain is a white wall with many signs on it, we decided that the best fabric for this application would be the blackout poplin.  One of the great features of the poplin is that it resists wrinkles so when the maintainence staff put the curtain away and rolls it up too tight, the material will relax when it is rolled out again.  Plus the material is washable so there is no need to dry clean the curtain.

Colors were the next step as the college has very defined colors that appear across the campus.  Our customer provided exact color specification which we matched perfectly.  And of course the WLC logo needed to appear at the exact center of the largest portion of the curtain. A once through the industrial sewing machine to seal the edges and the curtain was ready for delivery.

This is just another example of Optimum Signs ability to step outside the box and help our customers. We beat the promised delivery date by two days and of course we delivered the project exactly as quoted.  This is what our customers have come to expect from Optimum Signs.  If you have a project that you need help on please give us a call.
