Custom Exterior Post and Panel Sign for Family House in Milwaukee WI

  Recently we were contacted by the people at Family House in Milwaukee to assist in the design and manufacture of a new sign for their campus on 11th Street.  Family House is a Christian organization that provides support to people in the area that need help.  When they asked Optimum Signs to design a building sign for them, we were quite excited.

We started by looking at the foundation of the organization which started in 1989 in a single home in the inner city.  The only remaining piece of the original house is a small sign that hangs from the porch at the current location.  We felt that by matching the script on the sign we were tying back into the beginning of the Family House.  We also used a color scheme that reflects the exterior of the houses that they operate.  The addition of purple really accented the black and white background.  Once we had the design, we consulted with our customer on the style of sign that they wanted.  Donte, the executive director, was pretty certain that he wanted something that would be installed against the building and would weather well.  Something that really looked the part given the history of Family House.  This all directed us to a post and panel sign.

We used AlumiCore in 6 mil as the base to make sure the sign weathered well.  We used 3M’s IJ35C to print on as this material is a great media for color and durability.  The vinyl, when laminated, will look beautiful years to come.  The posts were 4″ x 4″ PVC fence posts set in concrete so that the winter’s frost/thaw cycle doesn’t push the sign up out of the ground.  We also used a PVC frame to mount the sign on to provide a rigid structure.  This sign will look very good for quite some time.  Our customer was very happy with the design, manufacture and installation of their new sign which was installed 4 days early.  That is what Optimum Signs is about – exceeding customer expectation on a daily basis. Now that the sign is up it is going to be hard to miss the campus.
