IMG_1153When the manager from Cho’s Tae Kwon Do contacted us about their upcoming move, he already had a good idea of what the artwork would look like. Colors and fonts were still to be decided on.  One of the topics that wasn’t open to discussion was that the committee that authorizes sign permits was scheduled to meet in 72 hours.  We had ideas, but nothing that could be submitted to the board.

We started with the company logo. No specific color other than black.  At a viewing distance of 50′, there are a few  strong contrasting colors that work the best.  Blue, red, and yellow work best with black.  When you add a white background, yellow no longer works so its between blue and red.  So we designed the signs in both blue and red and provided proofs to our customer in both colors.  Our recommendation was to go with the red color because even when the sign isn’t lite, the red will stand out.  As this was the first time we were working for them, they wanted to verify what we were recommending. They found out that their customers preferred the red almost 4-1.  So we had the accent color and the logo design. Now we had to do some research to discover what the sign committee would want so we could get the permit promptly.  By supplying the board with full color drawings, photoshopping the new sign into the photos of the new location and supplied dimensional drawings showing exact size and proportion, we were ready to submit for the permits. Our request was submitted on a Friday and on the following Thursday we had the permits.

The next step was to cut the lexan for the new lenses. We had to remove the old lenses to check to see if there was anything funny about the existing sign cabinets and to get exact measurements. And boy are we glad that we did.  In the existing sign cabinets there is a frame INSIDE the frame which changed the dimensions for the lenses by over 1.5″ on each side.  One of the characteristics that Optimum Signs delivers on all the time is that we use top end materials.  The film that we print on for backlit signs like these is a 7 year translucent film and overlaminate.  The combination of the two products provides a product that will look great today and several years from now.

One of many of the differences with Optimum Signs is that we will work with you, our customer to deliver the design that will drive traffic and get you noticed. If you need any exterior signs for your business and whether you know what you need or not, please call Optimum Signs at 262.289.9481 or email at info@optimumsignswi.com.
