New Custom Exterior Business Sign and Lobby Sign for Philleo Insurance Agency in Brookfield, WI

IMG_1145  When we were contacted by Ron Philleo from the Philleo Agency to replace an exterior building sign and a lobby sign, we realized that the sign frames were already in place and that we were going to have to custom fit our solution.  In addition, we needed a solution that allowed for the easy changing of tenants names.  Sounds like a typical job for Optimum Signs.

When we showed up to measure the existing sign, we noticed that a large number of the plastic pieces used in the sign still had paper price tags attached to them.  We also noticed that none of the holes were drilled straight and that the name panels didn’t line up.  So the first thing we did was to realign the sign panels and straighten out the alignment of the supports. We also removed the paper price tags. Next we moved inside the lobby to take measurements.  The existing sign was dated and very difficult to update.  It also looked like the wall had been painted around the sign because there was paint on the edges of the sign.

Our solution focused on maintaining the existing exterior sign and a new, laser cut lobby sign.  We removed the two panels that listed tenants that had moved and created a sign for one of the new tenants.  As the signs were now straight, the install took a whole 5 minutes.  The interior sign was a work of art.  We used laser-cut, silver metallic PVC. The name strips were laser etched and attached to the frame of the lobby sign by magnets. Now when a tenant leaves, instead of peeling the name off the sign, we can remove the magnetic strip and replace it with a blank.  The installation was a bit of a challenge.  When we removed the old sign, it tore the paint and drywall leaving a number of scares on the wall.  We had one of the handymen we work with go on-site to repair the drywall and match the paint on the wall.  We didn’t want to mount this nice looking sign on a wall that was damaged. A few days for all the plaster, primer, and paint to dry and we were ready to install the sign.  A simple 4′ level and a tape measure to ensure that the sign was centrally located, and the REMOVABLE 3M tape adhered to the wall.  The nice thing about the 3M tape that we use is that it will not peel drywall or paint no matter how long it is attached to the wall.
