custom van wrap  Talk about having some fun with a wrap.  This was a blast.  The agency we were working with out of Chicago had the graphics all laid out with one exception, the color of the van.  The plan was to wrap from the rain gutters to the stone guards.  That would have really looked funny because the color of the van did not match the color of the background of the print. As a matter of fact, they were completely different colors.

One of the many benefits of working with Optimum Signs is that we will not let any project leave our shop unless it is correct and looks the very best it can.  When we received the printed vinyl for this wrap, we noticed that the company that had printed the wrap on an off brand of vinyl. Not the end of the world.  We work with almost every brand of material in the market, some are much better than others.  But when they delivered the van, we noticed a big issue.  The printed blue of the wrap wasn’t even close to the blue of the van. As we peeled the old wrap off of the van it because very clear that we had an issue.

The agency went through about a dozen possible fixes, none of which would have fixed this.  The only option was for the ad agency to send us the files and allow us to alter the blue to match the color of the van.  They were reluctant to do so because their contract with Motorola is something that is highly protected.  I get it.  So the agency sent a representative to our shop to watch how we altered the color to match the van.  We use a photospectrometer to analysis the true color of the van.  It’s a small but very expensive device that reads the reflection and refraction of light on the paint and creates a color code that our printer software reads as a color.  Our agency rep was amazed at the level of detail we went to so we could produce the exact color that was needed.

We began the printing process while the agency rep was still here and she was amazed at the difference in materials that we use.  One of the variables in determining which vinyl to use on a wrap is the mileage that a vehicle will see in a year.  The more miles, the better vinyl.  This van will be on the road 360 days a year so we went with a premium vinyl and overlaminate that will give them a solid two years out of the print even though they change the print every year so we are covered.  `

The removal and installation of the new vinyl took a crew of three installer almost two full days to complete.  If you happen to have a business van or a fleet of vans that you need wrapped, please give us a call. We can be reached at 262.289.9481 or emailed at info@optimumsignswi.com. We would love to help you with your project.
