Brookfield, WI – Exterior Face Lit Channel Letters | Commercial Sign Company

Posted in: Client Examples,Recent Projects

Channel Letters  One of our partners places entrepreneurs with Cycle Bar franchises in Southeastern Wisconsin.  We have always had a great time with these folks and always love to work with them.  The new location in Brookfield at The Corners was a normal install, almost.

When we received the plans for the new location, we noticed that a lot of the drawings were “proposed” and not “approved”.  This is always something that needs to be paid attention to as it indicates that the municipality has not signed off on the drawings.  Not a big deal, right? Wrong.  When the municipality hasn’t approved the location of walls, power and structure it makes it really hard of us to request permits for the signs.  The reason they were pushing us was because the builder was a little behind in working with the municipality on the permits.  But we have an opening date already announced. They have an advertising buy already booked and ready to hit the airwaves.  But we don’t have any walls yet!!!

We decided to best way to work this one was to engage directly with the builder.  Most builders get a little freaked out when the sign company is calling to discuss a project because normally by the time we get engaged the walls are up and the plans are finalized.  It only took us about 15 minutes to figure out this was going to be a challenge.  The municipality wasn’t scheduled to meet to approve the build out plans until 4 days after we had to present our plans.  We had to ask the sign review board for an exception. Could they review the build out plans with our plans one the build out was approved? Normally municipalities are rigid in their planning but not Brookfield.  They were more than happy to help.

When it came time to install the individual channel letters, we bumped into one issue.  The area that these were to be installed has a weight limit because of the parking structure.  This meant no truck so our guys broke out the extension ladders and installed each letter, one at a time.  The pattern that we brought along didn’t really help much because of the steady 15 MPH wind that kept turning the pattern into a sail.  But after 4 hours, the letters were up and lit and they looked marvelous.

If you happen to have a business that needs channel letters please give us a call. We can be reached at 262.289.9481 or email us at info@optimumsignswi.com. We would love to help.
