Custom Locker Wrap  The University of Miami Ohio had just installed 13 package locker systems for their students to receive packages in and they wanted to jazz the look of the systems up.  So they had a number of the graphic designers that were attending classes at the University compete to design a look for the University that would get attention.  Above is the winning design. This design allowed us to alter the layout for the different sized systems.  The only part of the design that was static was the number of the system that was located over the control panel. The balance of the design was laid out moving from the center to the edges.  And we had 13 systems to wrap and only a week to get it done!

When our partner brought this job to us, we weren’t really sure where to start.  There were 13 systems, some back-to-back, that had different layouts.  This wasn’t a big deal because we install full panels then cut the vinyl to each door.  This way we can control how much vinyl wraps around the edges.

We printed almost 5850′ of printed vinyl using 9 full rolls (150′ each) with laminate.  This customer chose a matte finish for the lockers because they wanted it to look different.  The matte laminate really adds a look that is distinct and very classy. We also used over 900 ml of ink. That’s a lot of ink.

My installers started at 7:30am Monday morning and as it turns out, the area was not fully constructed.  There was no ceiling and the construction crew was still finishing framing out a couple of walls.  Normally we would have pulled the installers because you cannot contaminate the area without compromising the adhesive.  We wiped down the lockers multiple times and installed fans that were blowing the dust out of the area.  Even with that, we still fought the dust.  On Wednesday, we install the vinyl on a system that wasn’t even placed yet but the contractor agreed that we had to keep going as the center was open for business on Monday.  They also worked until they got kicked out by security around 9pm.  After three days of installing the print, we finished the panel install and started the detail work.  Every edge of every cut had to be heated and rolled out to make sure that the edges didn’t lift over time.  On the hinged side, each edge had to be tucked into and around the hinge.

If you have a package locker system that looks a little boring, please give us a call at 262.289.9481 or email us at info@optimumsignswi.com. We can help from design and print to installation.
