Brookfield, WI – Custom Cut Wall Graphics Childcare | Commercial Sign Company

We recently got the opportunity to add some color to one of our local childcare centers in Brookfield, Wisconsin.  Often times, we partner with national partners that need graphics done at a local branch and this was one of those times.  The childcare center is adding graphics to their centers across the country and they were looking for a partner to print and install graphics in the centers in Southeastern Wisconsin.

The headquarters had decided on what graphics they wanted and where they wanted them placed.  The only issue is that every center is slightly different.  When the company sent the graphics to us they told us that we had to place the graphics in certain locations.  The only issue was that every location is slightly different.  For this location, there wasn’t supposed to be any wainscoting and the doorway was 6″ wider than the plans called for.  That is exactly why we sent one of our installers to the location before we printed the graphics.  We also determined that the last time the walls were painted, they weren’t primed prior to paint.  This could have been a mess because the paint will release if the vinyl touches it.   We were able to modify the graphics to take into consideration the loss of 8″ in height and the additional 6″ in width.  We decided to print the design on Avery 2903 multipurpose vinyl with semi permanent adhesive and a gloss laminate.  The gloss laminate gives us a “wet paint” look while the vinyl adhesive prevents little fingers from picking at the graphics.

When it came to installing the graphics, we decided the best way to handle walls that weren’t primed is to do what we call “one time placement”.  When we do this we place the graphics with a liner on the adhesive side of the vinyl.  After measuring and cross checking, we created a hinge in the graphics.  We removed the backer on the top half and placed the vinyl very carefully.  We then removed the backer on the lower half and placed that.  We also couldn’t use a torch to heat any bubbles because it could cause the paint to release. All this while answering questions about what we were doing and is that paint?

If you need graphics added to your business walls, please give us a call. We can be reached at 262.289.9481 or emailed at info@optimumsignswi.com.  We would love to help you even if you don’t have 35 little people to help us during installation.
