Wauwatosa, WI – New Lexan Faces for Backlit Monument Sign for Schmidt & Bartelt

Posted in: Client Examples

We started working with Schmidt & Bartelt about 4 months ago when they wanted to change the color and layout on the monument sign at their Wauwatosa location.  The old sign had become faded and looked worn, almost tired.  When Steve reached out to us, he knew what he didn’t want.  We helped him find the design and colors that really worked best for him.

Our designer started by looking at the building. Where there any features of the building that should be reflected on the sign? How about color choices?  We looked at their website and talked to Steve about colors he was preferential to.  We sent a proof to Steve that had multiple colors for the background so he could see what the individual colors looked like with his information on it.  When he decided which color he wanted, we took an extra step that most other companies don’t do.  We test printed a small part of the sign on a piece of Lexan and placed it in front of a set of fluorescent tubes.  We noticed immediately we were going to have to adjust the color because the color as it was, washed out when lit.   Backlit signs are tricky as they are because each type of lighting, fluorescent vs LED, will carry the color differently.  The fluorescent tubes tend to be harsh and emit a very bright, white light.  The LED’s, give off a much softer, white light, but equally bright.  Through our process, we ensure that the sign looks the way that our customer wants it too, before we install it.

If you are looking for a company to work with on your rebranding project, please give us a call. We can be reached at 262.289.9481 or emailed at info@optimumsignswi.com.  We would be happy to show you the Optimum Signs difference.
