Milwaukee, WI – 20′ Custom Building Banner for Interstate Parking at the Grand Avenue Mall

When we were contacted by the manager of the parking structure at the Grand Avenue Mall in downtown Milwaukee, we where hopeful that project was going to be interesting.  The company had installed a 20’ x 24’ mesh banner almost 8 years ago and the banner had started to look worn and the information on the banner had changed. They were looking for a company to design, print and install this building sized banner.

When we start on a project like this one, we start with the attributes of the structure. We took measurements of the area that the new banner would occupy.  We checked for obstructions that would make the banner not hang right or may get in the way of the install.  If you notice in the picture, there is plywood on the 5^th floor because they are repairing the structure.  The company that is repairing the structure built a storage room on the floor which made it impossible to install the banner from the inside of the structure.  We also noticed a 3’ high concrete wall along the base of the structure that would not allow us to get within 12’ of the building.  We would need an articulated lift to install this.

We sat down with our customer and went through what they wanted on the banner. Because we had just assisted them in rebranding the structure, we knew the colors and font types.  We took the message they wanted and created a full color version of what the new banner would look like on the structure.  This is where we noticed a few items that we needed to change so that the banner looked exactly like what the customer wanted.

After the approval came back from the customer, we sent it to production.  We manage our production schedule very tightly so that we can produce as much as our customers need.  Because of this, we had the banner completed within 5 days.  Of course, the customer decided to change the pricing on the banner just before we were ready to install the new banner.  We were able to print a patch that covered the old price. And because we have done this before, we had the patch lined so the old price doesn’t show through.
