Pittsburgh, PA: Directional and Wayfinding Signs for Longwood at Oakmont

Posted in: Uncategorized

Most companies will utilize signage to aid in the efficiency of their workplace, and one of the most effective products to assist with this need is directional signage. That’s why when Longwood at Oakmont, a continued-care retirement community, asked us to create a system that eased navigation through their beautiful community, we recommended wayfinding signage. Our team fabricated and installed functional directional, parking, and informational post and panel signs to identify buildings and direct traffic.

Longwood at Oakmont is an accredited CARF senior retirement community focused on the age-friendly initiative in and around the city of Pittsburgh where they help the elderly community age positively. Equipped with a caring staff and personalized programs, Longwood provides its residents with the highest quality of living and is ranked in the top 11% of senior facilities in the United States.

In the photos throughout this article, you can see examples of the wayfinding sign options that our team designed for our client. These are just a few of the many options you have to better organize the navigation, and safety of your establishment. Check out the full project on our Flickr!

In preparation, our team met with our clients multiple times to receive original designs and layouts of the community to begin drafting a proposal. Throughout our continued communication we discussed and agreed upon pricing, placement, and a schedule. We wanted to spend as much time with our client to ensure all their needs had been met.

After removing and refurbishing old signs, and fabricating additional signage, we moved onto a three-phase installation process. All the new signs had routed aluminum faces with printed vinyl to create a cohesive design. A good number of the signs that we installed were parking signs, which measured to be about 18”X13”. The post and panel building identifiers measured to be about 96”X24”, and the remaining signs were roughly 42”X20” posted around various intersections and parking lots. Along with the wayfinding signage, we refaced Longwood’s two-sided monument sign with new materials and updated graphics.

At Spark Signs, we offer directional signs in all shapes and sizes. You can choose from an assortment of mediums depending on the location and mounting of your products. Pick from a variety of customizing options including bold color combinations, borders, fonts, and vibrant graphics. Our expert staff will assess the specific needs of your company and design, fabricate, and install the complementary package.
