The recent project we did for a Electrical Parts Supplier in our neighbourhood was no exception.  They had just signed their new lease and wanted to get their storefront sign up as quickly as possible.  We started with a site visit to meet the client, discuss his needs and budget and take some measurements.  Once we knew what the client wanted, we were able to provide him a variety of options within his budget range and with the pros and cons of the options so he could make an informed decision. We started out with completing the graphic design and artwork on the computer and and sending it to the client for their review and approval. Once approved we took down the old light box, cleaned and prepped it.  Then we printed the vinyl on our high end printer and applied the vinyl and put on the acrylic and installed the sign within the agreed upon time frame.  The customer was thrilled.  He needed the sign up quickly so his customers could find him and also so he could attract new customers.

There are other types of storefront signs as well. The Electrical Part Supplier was keen to keep the cost low and therefore decided not to have the box lit. If you have the budget for a few extra dollars you can include LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights that will ensure your sign is visible even when it is dark.  If you run a business like a restaurant, and you are open when it is dark, you will definitely want to have a lit sign so your patrons can easily find your establishment.  Even if your business isn’t open late, in Toronto, the winter is long and the daylight hours are reduced in the winter months, so if you want to get the full advantage of your sign, you should consider having it lit with LED or Edge-lit lights. This way people on the road passing by will also see your sign 24-7. Older light boxes may sometimes have fluorescent lights, but LEDs are better because they last longer, are energy efficient, and have a high light quality.

Some other things to consider when purchasing your storefront sign are:

• Size and position of your logo
• Lettering – The font size should be large enough to be visible from a distance
• Consistent branding – Colours on your storefront sign should be consistent with your brand colours
