Toronto, ON – Condominium Signs and Wayfinding Signs for North York Property

Posted in: Industry News

When a new condominium is built and new signs are installed everything looks new and modern, but as with everything after some years the signage begins to look dated.  If the condominium property you are managing has tired, old fashioned signs that bring you back to the ‘70s, you will find it difficult to attract new residents and your existing residents will be unhappy as well.  You want your community to feel a sense of pride in their environment. Therefore, just as you would renovate an outdated space, it’s important to also update your signage to keep your condominium looking new and inviting!

In a recent project we were called to help a property management company update their signage in a condominium building.  Over the years different signs were added at different times and they were not uniform in appearance, some had the previous property management information and many of the signs were looking old and worn.  In addition, some of the safety signs were written poorly and were difficult to understand.

We started out by discussing the project with the property manager to really understand the scope of what they wanted to change. They identified there were over 50 signs they wanted updated.  Next we took an inventory of all the signs that needed to be updated and carefully reviewed the changes.  We did mock ups of the new signs, updated the very ‘wordy’ signs to plain language so they would be easy to understand and presented these for approval.

Once the property manager had the board approval for the new signs, we made the signs and prepared for installation.  We worked closely with the property manager to install the signs when it was convenient for him and had the least impact to the residents.

Signage in your condominium common areas are not only important to convey information such as an emergency exit, but are also required for health and safety reasons such as non-smoking signs or the caution signs in a gym or swimming pool.  Having these signs updated is important for your business as it shows the community that you are taking good care of the property and they feel secure and trust that you are doing a good job.

We installed over 50 different signs in this condominium! As we were installing the signs we had some residents comment on how nice and clear they looked. Once all the new signs were installed, they gave the common spaces a fresh new look.  The property manager was also very happy with the end result and this is what makes our job so enjoyable…making our customers happy!
