Signage FAQs | How long does it take to make a sign?

Posted in: Uncategorized

Often the Sign is the last thing on a new company’s To Do List after the permitting and construction are done.  Sometimes the grand opening or an important event sneaks up on you.  These examples and more reasons cause a customer to need a sign NOW.

There are many valid reasons why a sign would not go up the day after we get a request. The normal custom sign order to completion process is: 1) call the sign company and ask for a quote, 2) the sign salesman visits and gets the information (sign type, size, location, installation needs, permit requirements, etc.), 3) the design department lays out the sign to scale and sends a proof for approval, 4) customer review (tweaks and changes), 5) the final proof is agreed upon.  During this period, the sign company is also preparing the quote based on colors, size, materials, installation, etc.

Production times vary by the type of sign and quantity needed.  For example, a poster board with an easel back is fast because it is relatively small and made of printed vinyl on foam core. Banners are also quick turnaround items.  These sorts of products can normally be manufactured in a day or two after the proofs are approved.

On the other end of the spectrum is a set of channel letters or light box to be placed over a store front.  Manufacturing and installation can take up to 3 weeks for this sort of sign.  We normally do not begin production on this sort of sign until we have permitting approved.  Either we or our customer can obtain the permitting.

Pick-up, delivery or installation is determined by customer request and the type of sign you requested.
