Livestock trailer from EBY

If you’re looking for information about cattle semi-trailer capacity, consider the size and configuration of your trailer, size of livestock being loaded and how many trailers you need for your agriculture or agribusiness operation. Agriculture trailers are some of the most widely used products we carry at Star Trailer Sales in North Mankato, MN. Call us to learn more about our new and used semi trailer inventory for sale, our parts or our services. Our trailers are great for hauling hogs as well as cattle.

Size and Configuration for Cattle Semi-Trailer Capacity

The size and configuration of your livestock semi trailer will determine the capacity of the load. Of course this coincides with animal size, which we’ll cover in the next section of this article, but there are some estimations we can make to help predict overall capacity. For example, according to the IFAS Extension at the University of Florida, a chart is used to determine best hauling practices for cattle livestock. This chart, for example, shows that a 24-foot by 7-foot livestock trailer can haul up to eleven 1,200-pound cows safely at maximum cattle semi-trailer capacity. Our EBY livestock trailers are between 48 and 54 feet in length and around 8 or so feet in width. Some include air ride suspension. The 2020 Eby Bullride, for example, is a 53′ x 102″ x 13’6″ with 10’1″ spread axle and eight aluminum rims. There are nose vents, lighted sign, left-hand roll up door, curbside rear washout, lift-out plug drains at the rear drop, aluminum roof, drivers-side rear escape door, side post with winter retainer post, center access doors, removable deck in nose, extended down ramp into belly, tube style gates and numerous other features.

Size of Livestock Being Loaded

The size of the livestock, in this case cattle, being loaded into the trailer also makes a difference. Using the rule of thumb above example, the cows weighed 1200 pounds. You can use the trailer size and cattle size in the IFAS chart to make predictions about how many cattle can be transported in your livestock semi trailer. Carrying livestock can be a dangerous job and is important to be careful. Many news reports have revealed accidents involving cattle hauling. Hauling hogs in semi trailers can be dangerous as well. Keep this mind when loading your livestock and preparing for their transport. Take a look through our inventory to get a good idea of the types of livestock trailers we distribute across the U.S.
