Louisville, KY – Training for Leaders and Teams | Business Coaching News

It’s generally a good business strategy to promote someone from within and help an existing employee move up in the company if they have the desire and ambition to lead. When a person is technically proficient, the thought process is they can teach others to do the same job while overseeing a group of people who do the same thing.

While this makes sense in theory, many companies miss the mark by failing to train their middle managers on how to lead in addition to their knowledge of the company’s products or services. You should never assume just because someone is good at something they can lead others who do the same thing. Instead, you should equip the person to lead, and their technical skill combined with this leadership knowledge can make them a great manager.

I am a business coach who works with companies of all sizes, industries and structures in Louisville, Kentucky and the surrounding areas. It’s my job to use my business acumen to help business owners reach their goals, and I can do this through several methods, but one way I help is through developing key skills in owners to help them become better businesspeople.

Many times in the course of my training, the owner wants to spread these skills to other members of the organization, which is a great idea and often produces results on a greater scale. While I am happy to do this, I always allow the owner to take credit for the training and get their team bought in to apply themselves and learn as much as possible.

By training team members in skills such as time management, goal setting, priority management, leadership and more, we can begin to shift the culture of the entire company from the top down to achieve great results.

I have selected a quote from a recent training session to illustrate this point, and if your company can benefit from skills training for managers and leaders, give me a call or fill out the form on my website to get started today.

In every organization, when it comes to communication, it always breaks down in the middle. Whether it’s going from the bottom to the top or the top to the bottom, communication always breaks down in the middle.

So sometimes leaders will say once you come in and “all this time/priority management stuff you taught me, it’s got me zinging along, but my all of my people need this and we all need to adopt this” and I said yeah that sounds great I’ll come in and do it, however when I come in you’re going to own it you’re going to facilitate, it you’re going to kick it off and you’re going to talk about it for 10 minutes – because this is your idea, this is your company.

This is not me coming in and you sitting in the corner and me taking the stage and being the hero that guides everybody to the promised land. I’m not Moses, I’m the coach, and coaches aren’t up front coaches are right beside and right next you leading you through that.
