Glass or acrylic wall signs on stand-offs are an effective way to create elegant displays in your home, office lobby, conference room, or other space. Smaller signs, like the smaller sign here which is 18″ high x 36″ wide,  can easily be installed with one stand-0ff in each corner. For larger signs, exceeding about 54″ in width, like the 36″ x 72″ one shown here, 6 or more stand-offs will be needed to adequately support the sign.

Instead of purchasing actual etched glass which can be very costly, a frosted or etched vinyl material can be applied to either the front or the back of either a glass or acrylic sign face, depending on the look you desire. Other design elements, such as pictures, dimensional letters, cut vinyl decals and digital prints can be applied to the sign on top of the etched vinyl. Back-painting of the glass or acrylic can also add a unique design feature as well as create more depth in the sign.

Stand-off mounting hardware comes in several standard sizes ranging from 3/8″ diameter up to 7/8″ diameter in a brushed aluminum finish. Other shapes and larger sizes can be custom ordered to your specifications. The stand-offs are component hardware that consist of a barrel (the part between the sign and the wall), and a cap (the part you see on top of the sign), as well as posts and other mounting pieces that run through the barrel and secures the entire thing to the wall. When considering and planning for your display with stand-off hardware, be sure to let your sign company know what the wall is made of where you plan to attached the hardware. Different wall anchors are required for a brick or concrete wall than for drywall, for example.
