Stand Off Mounting Hardware Adds Dimension to Signs

A simple yet sophisticated way to add dimension and design elements to your wall display, signage, photographs or other wall-mounted installation is to use Stand Off mounting hardware.

Stand Offs do exactly what they sound like – they allow your photographs, signage or other wall display to “stand off” of the wall – providing space for the piece to float off of the wall by a fraction of an inch or up to several inches.

This custom lobby sign for Advanced Manufacturing located in Irvine, CA was fabricated using a few different materials, starting with an acrylic sign face. The acrylic was cut to size, holes drilled into the corners for the stand off hardware mounts, and the edges polished. The client’s logo was printed onto adhesive-backed vinyl, laminated, and then machine cut. Once this large format decal was finished, it was mounted to the acrylic sign face. A brushed aluminum stand off was placed in each corner to mount the sign to the wall.

Stand offs are a great option for lobby or indoor signage and wall displays because it allows the sign to be easily moved to another location without damaging the sign.

Stand off hardware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and finishes. The most common color is a brushed aluminum and standard sizes are 3/8″, 5/8″ or 7/8″ diameter caps an barrels in lengths of 1, 2, or 3″. Other colors and sizes can be ordered or even custom fabricated to your specifications.
