SBA Recommends Signage For Small Businesses

Posted in: Industry News

Did you know that the SBA strongly recommends good signage for all small businesses? And while that doesn’t mean you need to spend a small fortune on your business sign, it does mean that it is a critical part of your overall marketing strategy.

“Many merchants increase their business measurably just by adding a good sign. Conversely, many have gone out of business because they simply were not identified well, so not enough potential customers knew of their existence.”

Don’t let this happen to you! If you operate a small business of any kind, you need to have a qualified sign company as one of your partners. A good sign company will help you take advantage of all of the places that you have available to get your company’s name noticed. You may be saying, “but, I don’t have an office or a building on which to hang signage.”  No problem. Do you drive a car? Maybe you own a small trailer or other vehicle that can be turned into a mobile billboard with a compelling vehicle wrap. Temporary sidewalk signage can also be helpful in high traffic areas. At Iconography, we are experts in designing and creating the right signage for your business and your budget.

The SBA cites several other reasons why all businesses should invest in good business signage:

  •  “Signs are the most effective, yet least expensive, form of advertising for the small business. ” Think about it – an initial investment in a good sign will last for many years. For many of our customers, their signs outlast their lease on their building as well as the life of their design. Many customers upgrade to larger offices or redesign their logos and are ready for new signage before the old one is worn out.
  • “A sign is your introduction and handshake with those passing by, identifying your business to existing and potential customers.”
  • “Signs are always ‘on the job’ for you, advertising 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.” For this reason, if you are in a location that allows illuminated signage, we strongly recommend the investment.
  • “We live in a mobile society. According to the United States Census Bureau, 18% of households relocate each year. As your customers move, you need to replace them by attracting new customers.”
  • “People often judge a business by how it looks on the sign.” See for yourself – where would you rather spend your money:
