Long Beach Wedding Photographer Perspective of Queen Mary

Posted in: Industry News

This brief article focuses on the Queen Mary from a wedding photographer’s perspective.  It is the second of three articles expounding on another where we featured three wedding venues in Long Beach; The Reef by the Water, the Queen Mary, and the Hotel Maya.

Long Beach has been the permanent home of the Queen Mary for a few decades now, and visitors come from all over the world to walk along her decks and stay in her staterooms.  We’ve heard many visitor’s stories of either themselves or a close relative on the high seas aboard the historic icon.

The ship’s current management has been doing quite a bit of refurbishing for the past few years, bringing many of her ballrooms and salons close to their original grandeur.  When holding an event in any of these spaces, the wall decorations, paintings and other furnishings automatically raise its cache.

The refurbishing has not been kept to the public spaces, as many if not all of the staterooms have also been renovated to add a little 21st century to an otherwise luxurious room from the golden era of luxury cruise liners.  Thus holding an event aboard the Queen Mary has all the conveniences of a modern hotel, allowing guests to walk from the event space to their rooms, but with the added atmosphere of being aboard an historic icon.

The Queen Mary counts with a spacious parking lot, and often depending on the arrangement made with the banquet department for special events the parking can either be validated or at a reduced rate for the event’s guests.
