Caught in the Moment Photography has been a preferred wedding photographer at Wayfarers Chapel for well over ten years so we know that just because the traditional wedding season of summer is over it doesn’t mean that the weddings will slow down at the Wayfarers Chapel.
It could be because its location in the temperate climate of Southern California, or because of the sheer size of the Los Angeles Area or because the Wayfarers chapel has gained world wide notoriety as the beautiful glass chapel by the sea but it seems that there really is no “off season” for weddings at the Wayfarers Chapel.
Whatever the reason, the wedding photographers at Caught in the Moment Photography are thankful and pleased to be able to help our many couples with their photography needs on their wedding day. Our photographers see the opportunities to photograph weddings throughout the year as just that, opportunities to provide a different photographic experience to each of our couples.
It is this experience in photographing weddings at the Wayfarers Chapel that has earned us the trust and endorsement of the wedding coordinators and staff at the Wayfarers Chapel. They know that by referring Caught in the Moment Photography to the brides and grooms whose wedding they are coordinating the bride and groom will get experienced photographers that know the grounds at Wayfarers Chapel inside and out and that they will have beautiful photography with which to remember their beautiful wedding day.
We at Caught in the Moment Photography look forward to working with couples who have their wedding ceremony at Wayfarers Chapel and wherever in the Los Angeles Area that they choose to have their wedding reception.
Caught in the Moment Photography used the mobile photography studio setup that we normally use for end of the year corporate parties and holiday parties while being the photographers of choice for the staff party at the Queen Mary in Long Beach. It gives us great pleasure that the entire staff, not just the banquet and event staff truly does regard us as a preferred vendor. We are grateful for the referrals we receive from the catering staff at the Queen Mary whenever one of their wedding or special event clients need a photographer; but we are truly flattered that among all the other vendors that they recommend they selected us to provide the photography.
This year the management wanted to give their employees the red carpet treatment while at the same time giving them something that they knew they would appreciate. After some brainstorming we decided to set up our mobile photography studio near the registration table so that upon arrival they saw our backdrop and studio lights ready for them. In this case we used a green screen so that the backdrop would be the iconic Queen Mary itself; and just to add a touch of whimsy and fun, we offered our photo booth props so that if the guests felt like being silly and pose with the props they were able to do so.
We are proud that such an important and popular wedding and special event venue like the Queen Mary appreciates our photography so much that not only are they actively referring us to their clients but also choose us when they themselves need a photographer for their special events. We look forward to the corporate end of year and holiday party season which is about to start booking soon.
This summer once again Musical Theatre West, the premier regional theater performance company in the Los Angeles area or the entire Southern California area for that matter, held its much anticipated fundraising event and Caught in the Moment Photography was there again. There are certain special events that Caught in the Moment Photography has been photographing for a number of years, and Broadway in the Park is one of those events that we look forward to the photography for.
For us the evening starts as do most of the special events we photograph, with the step and repeat arrivals at the VIP pre-event party. Because the evening is so compact and action packed, the VIP party is a relatively short event, so we have to make sure not only that we photograph all of the special guests in front of the branded backdrop, but that we also cover the special event itself giving a photographic account of all the fun of excitement of the event.
Perhaps the aspect of the evening that makes this particular fundraising event special is the musical previews of the next season. Because the event is put on by a theater company, there is plenty of musical talent and production expertise available, but the way that they craft the evening always makes it an exciting evening. The setups, entertainment and theatrical production expertise makes it a fundraising that not only do we as photographers look forward to every year, but more importantly the theater and art patrons in general do too. Of course that is key in making sure that the funds are raised and that the theater production company meets its goals and maintains itself healthy!

With this article we thought we would focus on what one of our stage production photography clients does for its annual fundraising special event. Musical Theatre West, the premier regional theater production company in the Los Angeles Area and for that matter the entire Southern California Area each year stages a not-to-be-missed fundraising event that takes advantage of its vast entertaining and production resources.
One of the things that sets this special event apart from the myriad of other fundraising events throughout the busy social calendar year is the venue itself. The name of the event is Broadway in the Park, and as the name implies, a park setting is what the organizers are going for in terms of the ambiance. They hold the event literally in the street, they get the permits and support from the neighbors of the “Park” Estates neighborhood in Long Beach and build a production around the closed off cul-de-sac. The dinner and auctions, silent and live, take place in the cul-de-sac, but the entertainment which one would expect to be the centerpiece of the evening taking into account that the company is very used to putting on productions take place in the backyards of supporter’s homes thus giving the evening’s ambiance that park feel.
The evening starts as most fundraising special events do with a VIP party for the dignitaries and other special guests, but again the setting of the party makes it a memorable evening because of the intimacy that the guests feel by being in someone’s backyard.
It is the setting, the top-notch caliber entertainers that only a theater production company can put together, and the “hook” of offering the guests a preview of next year’s stage productions that make this yearly fundraising event special enough to be a must on the calendar. From our perspective, the backdrops and action make it one of our favorite events of the year to photograph.
