Caught in the Moment Photography is again doing concert and performance photography at Grand Performances at the California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles.
A recent event for which we were the photographer was a concert presented by KCRW, National Public Radio’s flagship station in the greater Los Angeles Area. The concert was a performance by a compilation of performers that got together for one night to pay tribute to the great Nina Simone.
In addition to the musicians performing onstage, Caught in the Moment Photography was also assigned to photograph an opening DJ set by Jeremy Sole, one of the many talented KCRW DJs.
One of the reasons that the radio station keeps asking us to be the photographer for their live events is that they know that we will provide them with quality images that they will be able to use not only to document the concert or whatever the performance event happens to be but they will also receive imagery that will help them promote future events. Because of our experience doing the photography coverage for many VIP events we are completely comfortable working in that type of environment and more importantly we have the understanding that it is important for the event organizers and sponsors to have powerful branded imagery.
Here at Caught in the Moment Photography we are proud and happy to be constantly selected as the photographer of choice for live events whether it is for a concert, theater performance, musical theater, dance recitals or whatever the live performance event happens to be.
Although are home bases for convention and conference photography are the Long Beach Convention Center and the Anaheim Convention Center we are always very happy to go to other venues to do the photography coverage for conferences, conventions, business and sales meetings.
Such was the case for a recent conference held at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach; and although most of the referrals we get come from the Convention and Visitors Bureau this one came directly from the venue itself. We have been honored to do a number of events at the Aquarium each year for over ten years; events ranging from wedding and social events to corporate parties and conferences and sales meetings.
For this particular conference, the coordinator at the Aquarium referred us because she knew of our familiarity with the venue and our experience in doing portraits, event coverage as well as conferences and conventions. Their need was very specific, they needed a formal portrait of all 110 attendees, in other words a nicely posed and composed large group picture. The coordinator was right, we knew exactly where in the Aquarium to place everyone so that the portrait was well composed and just as importantly so that the Aquarium itself was a prominent part of the image so that years from now when the conference attendees look at the photo they will automatically know exactly where the picture was taken.
Although the session immediately before the scheduled photo time went long and the conference attendees had a dinner boat to catch, our familiarity with the venue and the Aquarium staff paid off because we were in place and ready for their closeup!
At a recent wedding at the beautiful Wayfarers Chapel we were honored to do the wedding photography we used our photojournalistic style to capture the candid photography, and our years of experience as preferred wedding photographers at the “glass chapel” to ensure that the wedding ceremony photos were fabulous.
When it came time to do the traditional wedding party portraits, we literally had the opportunity to make photos that were creative and fantastic! The groomsmen had a surprise up and under their sleeves they wanted to add a touch of their own personality and playfulness by all wearing a different superhero’s shirt.
We had this great idea of capturing this transformation, like when Clark Kent steps into the phone booth and Superman comes out, but walking through the beautiful manicured lawn in front of the Wayfarers Chapel. The series of photos that we got was exactly what we were looking for; fun, casual, creative, true to the subjects’ personalities images . Once we got back to the studio and took those images as a raw material and let our creativity run wild we achieved a very unique wedding party portrait.
This brief anecdote is an example of why the staff of the Wayfarers Chapel recommends our award winning studio to their many brides and grooms for their wedding photography. This type of customer service along with our unique style and attention to detail is also why we only have happy clients that in turn refer us not only to the members of their own wedding party but to all their friends and family regardless of whether they’re getting married at the Wayfarers Chapel or not!
