Project: Solar Window Film Installation for Home

Location: Lantana, TX

Residential Solar Film Installation in Lantana, TXWe recently received a call from a homeowner in Lantana, TX looking for a solution to their current Low-E windows. They wanted someone that could reflect the UV and heat from the sun. We decided that Fusion 28 by Huper Optik would be a perfect match.

In the picture above you can see the home after we installed the solar window film. You may notice that the residential window film doesn’t look quite as dark as others you’ve seen before, this is due to the Low-E coating already applied to the glass. These homeowners are enjoying the benefits of heat reduction, UV reduction and lower utility bills without sacrificing the look of their home.

Our homeowners have a beautiful stone and brick home located in Lantana, TX. Their home has quite a bit of window space which is wonderful for natural lighting but can really take a toll on your utility bill. Sadly their Low-E windows weren’t blocking out the heat and UV rays they believed but now they are enjoying the lower utility costs and reduction of heat/UV.

Just like any other window film installation, we begin by getting exact measurements of the windows receiving film. The next step is fabricating the solar window film, followed by the installation. When installing any window film or tint, you must be very careful not to create air pockets or bubbles, this can ruin the entire look.

Although many people think Low-E glass provides the same benefits of solar window films, they are very wrong. Low-E coatings are made to keep heat in a room by retaining “long-Wave” heat. Heat the comes from your vents when heat is on during the winter. Solar film reflects “short-wave” heat which is the heat you feel direct from the sun and/or reflecting off surfaces such as water, concrete, etc. By reflecting the short-wave heat and UV rays, it protects your furniture and skin while reducing your energy bill each month.

If you just can’t take the heat any longer, contact the window film experts at Architectural Glass Solutions in Little Elm, TX today! You can reach us at (972) 625-6008 to discuss the benefits of residential and commercial solar window films. We look forward to hearing from you!
